The seventh edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra is fast approaching and will last until July 19. Young musicians will have a week of workshops and a meeting with the unique compositional style of Witold Lutosławski, finishing with the final concert on 30 August.

The first edition of the ILYO project took place in 2013, when the whole world celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Witold Lutosławski. Since then, every year, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin welcomes young musicians from Poland and other European countries to learn the works of the orchestra's patron under the guidance of esteemed instrumentalists and tutors.

This year, for the seventh time, musicians aged 18-30 can become members of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra and face the work of Witold Lutosławski and other great composers. The recruitment will last from June 26 to July 19, 2019. To join it, you must register on the website ilyo.filharmonia.szczecin.pl and fill out the form.

Based on the recordings included in the form, the jury conisted of the conductor and tutors will select the musicians who will take part in ILYO workshops in August at the Philharmonic in Szczecin.

The participants’ work of this year's ILYO edition will finish with the concert on 30 August 2019 in symphony hall. For the third time the orchestra will be led by Maestro Rune Bergmann – Artistic Director of the Szczecin Philharmonic, and the pianists Jan Wachowski will accompany the musicians.
In the golden hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, days before the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, young musicians will perform the Leningrad symphony of Dymitr Shostakovich. Of course, there will also be the work of the orchestra patron – Witold Lutosławski – this year it will be "Variations on a Theme of Paganini".

Full information about the recruitment process and lecturers will be available on the website ilyo.filharmonia.szczecin.pl
